Dr. Chris Alvey
Dr. Chris Alvey began his college career at Brescia University and graduated in 2001 with a bachelors degree in Biology. He continued on to Auburn University where he graduated in 2005 with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. With his parents still in Owensboro where he grew up, Chris wanted to come back to Owensboro to practice.
At the age of 16, Chris began working at Towne Square in the kennels as well as being a veterinary technician during his summers breaks while at Brescia, so his heart was always set on coming back to Towne Square Animal Hospital to practice. In 2014 Chris married his wife Mary J who has been a veterinary technician for almost 20 years. To relax, any chance he gets he greatly enjoys working on his farm and bass fishing on Kentucky and Barkley Lake.
Dr. Summer Buckner
Dr. Summer Buckner became employed at Towne Square Animal Hospital in 2014. She has practiced veterinary medicine in the Owensboro area since 2003. Originally from Texas, Dr. Buckner is a 2001 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoys developing relationships with clients, observing the bond between humans and animals, and client education.
Dr. Buckner is married and has a son. She has a dog, a cat, horses, and cattle. In her free time, she enjoys: spending time with family, riding horses, traveling, and reading.
Dr. Damon Cecil
Dr. Cecil grew up in Philpot, KY., attended Owensboro Catholic High School, Murray State University, and Auburn University. Prior to graduation, he completed internships in swine production and medicine in North , South Carolina and Indiana, as well as completing an equine an internship in Texas. Upon graduation in June 2000, he spent the first two years practicing as a large animal ambulatory veterinarian. For the next three years he practiced mixed animal medicine before settling down at Towne Square Animal Hospital in 2004.
Father of three children, he and his family enjoy camping, trail riding and anything outdoors. In addition to the three children, he and his wife, Jennifer, have three dogs, four cats and five horses. When he has spare time, Dr. Cecil still enjoys helping out and working on his mother’s cattle farm.
Dr. Julie Gray
Dr. Julie Gray, graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She earned her BS from Murray State University in Pre-Vet/Animal Health Technology in 1999. Although she is from the Murray area, you can tell by her accent, she has worked at Towne Square Animal Hospital for over ten years. She has a special interest in internal medicine, pediatric surgery, and saving the animals one by one, through her strong promotion of sterilization of all pet animals. That is why she works closely with both the Daviess County Animal Shelter, Bluegrass Boxer Rescue, and the Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky, also known as S.P.A.R.K.Y. Nothing is more gratifying to her than making a difference towards a better life for all animals.
Julie resides in Owensboro with her husband, two human children, two canine children, three cats, two clydesdales, two quarter horses, and of course, a donkey! Most of her free time, is spent with her family, and her clydesdale horse, also known as the other man in her life, deep in the woods of Shawnee, IL and western Kentucky.
